The History of Krooners
Motorcycle Shop |
|
Years
ago an ethnically diverse group of bikers left the mountains southeast
of LA and headed out looking for a ride. They stopped and set up
headquarters in what was known as the "Old Krooner Building",
a classy biker rest stop 30 miles east of Nashville. They took over
management and improved upon the building, using it as a clubhouse
and eventually even opening an upscale sushi bar to the public. |

The bikers became
known as the sushi dogs, they were welcome in the city and
things went well for a while. As the original members grew old and
moved on, the classy sushi bar that now even had a liquor license
started to evolve into a tavern, where whiskey and beer flowed like a
river, the Japanese chef used his knives for security, and sushi
was seldom served. Gambling machines were the main money makers for
the new club of "most wanted" bikers. Pressure from the normally
peaceful community, local and state law enforcement was on...and this group
of "dogs" were run out of town and the rest stop
closed down--- For Good. |

|
Now a descendant of one of the original group organizers, with the help of
internet sales of new motorcycle parts, has been able to buy the
somewhat famous and historic "Krooners Building" and restore
it back to grand biker clubhouse it once was, much like the
original sushi dogs set it up years ago with numerous old coin
operated machines and rides....all of which we try to keep working.
You will see the famous "butt massage couch (still takes a
quarter)", penny weight and fortune, bar pool table, nickel testo
machine (a 50's sobriety test), deco candy machines that take a dime,
juke box that plays 45's and even the sushi bar is still in place(
but just used for display except on special occasions).

The
liquor is no longer served, but club house environment and all the
old open road artifacts may make you want to bring a cold one in
during the tour which is fine, just don't light up...the fire marshal
will be watching out for that. Even Junior can get started riding.
We have free demo's on the USA custom made "Mikey bikes"
(ages 6 through adult). Krooners is now a family place where
bikers of any age can get the best prices on parts for any
model anywhere in the world. So stop in and see a bit of motorcycle
history if you are ever in the middle Tennessee area... |
